Overheard a booktuber say daily reflection spreads are a waste of ink and now I'm second-guessing my whole index setup
She said she only logs tasks and never looks back at her daily notes, but isn't the whole point of bullet journaling to track patterns over time, how do you actually use your old spreads to catch trends without flipping through six months of entries?

Nah, I disagree. Quick daily spreads are gold for spotting patterns - sleep, mood, energy levels, all that stuff. Just tag 'em with simple symbols or colors at the top so you can scan back without reading every word.

Totally agree, the color coding trick is a lifesaver.

And building on that, using symbols for things like sleep quality or stress means you can spot a bad week in about two seconds just by glancing at the margin. I've found that keeping the same three or four symbols for a few months really helps me see connections I'd miss otherwise, like how a rough night often means a lower mood the next afternoon. It's a simple habit, but once you get the hang of it, you start noticing little patterns that can actually help you adjust your day.
