The sticky note spread that saved my grocery budget
Went to Trader Joe's last Saturday and noticed the cashier had a mini bullet journal taped to the register, tracking void and damaged item codes. I started a 2 page spread tracking every impulse buy with a sticky note tally, and I've cut my monthly food spend by about $60 so far. Has anyone else tried tracking a specific spending category in a spread instead of your whole budget?
Man, that reminds me of my buddy Dave who slapped a sticky note on his fridge for every time he bought coffee out. Turns out he was dropping like $80 a month on lattes he didn't even enjoy. He switched to a small tracker in his phone notes, but the visual of those notes stacking up is what actually woke him up.
Put a jar on my nightstand and threw a quarter in every time I grabbed fast food instead of cooking. Watching that jar fill up faster than my savings made me realize I wasn't hungry, just lazy. Stopped cold turkey after a month.
