TIL my habit tracker was the reason I kept quitting in March
I used to set up these elaborate habit trackers with 15 different things to check off every day. Every January it looked great. By March I'd have blank rows for weeks. I thought I just lacked discipline. Then last month I flipped back through my old journals and noticed something. The months where I only tracked 3 things were the only ones where I actually kept up with it. So I ripped out my April spread and redid it with just 'drink water before coffee' and 'walk 10 minutes'. It's been 22 days and I haven't missed one. Has anyone else found a magic number of habits that actually sticks?

Gonna push back a bit here lol. 15 habits is a recipe for burnout but 3 might be too limiting long term. Mine fell apart at 5 things because I'd beat myself up over missing one and then just ditch the whole list. Landed on 4 as the sweet spot for me - small enough that I can do them in 20 minutes total but varied enough that skipping one doesn't make me feel like a failure. 22 days is solid progress on your end though, dont let me rain on that parade haha.

The all-or-nothing mindset is what really kills most streaks.
