Tried a $35 dot grid notebook from a fancy brand and went back to my old $5 one

I picked up a Leuchtturm1917 last fall because everyone raved about the numbered pages and table of contents, but the ghosting drove me crazy with my fountain pens. My old $5 Moleskine knockoff from a craft store handles ink way better and the pages feel sturdier for daily logging. Anyone else find that paying more for a bullet journal doesn't always mean better performance with your tools?

Ditched a $40 notebook after two weeks for a plain composition book from the dollar store. The expensive one bled through with every pen stroke and the cover got all bent up. My cheap book handles everything I throw at it and the pages don't fall out. Price tags don't always mean quality when it comes to paper.

Funny, I used to be the type who thought you had to spend serious money to get a decent notebook. Thought the fancy brands were the only way to go. Then I picked up a cheap spiral notebook from the grocery store on a whim and it handles fountain pens better than any of the expensive ones Ive tried. The paper is actually thicker and the binding has held up way better than my $25 Moleskine that fell apart in a month. Totally changed my view on what makes a good notebook.
