Wasted $35 on a fancy stencil set for my bullet journal and never used it once

I bought a set of 8 reusable stencils off Etsy for my weekly spreads. They looked so clean in the listing photos but in real life they kept sliding around on the page. Now they sit in a drawer and I just draw my own simple boxes with a ruler. Has anyone else bought a tool that looked great but just didn't work for your style?

Yo I used to be that person who was all about buying every cool planner accessory I saw online. I was definitely guilty of buying into the hype of those fancy stencil sets too. I actually thought they would be way better than just using a ruler and some tracing paper. But honestly, after seeing them slide around like that, I realized my old method of drawing boxes with a ruler was way more reliable and fast. It's funny how something that looks so clean in a video can be such a pain in real life.

Trading the fancy stencils for a simple metal ruler and a fine tip pen was a game changer for me. I found that holding the ruler steady with a couple pieces of washi tape on the back kept it from sliding around on the smooth paper. Drawing the boxes myself actually ended up being faster than fiddling with a stencil that never lined up right.

Read somewhere that washi tape trick is genius, @phoenix_carter.
