Went to a craft fair last weekend and saw way too many people selling 'bullet journals' that were just pre-printed planners

Man that reminds me of when I tried to make a bullet journal myself once. @hugo_bennett totally nailed it - ended up just scribbling in a spiral notebook instead.

Gotta say I totally get where you're coming from. The whole point of a bullet journal is to build your own system, not just fill in someone else's template. It's like buying a coloring book and saying you made the art yourself. People are basically selling overpriced notebooks with a few lines and boxes already printed in them now. Might as well just grab a legal pad and a ruler at that point. Miss when it was actually about the process and not just the aesthetic.

Agree completely. The whole thing got turned into a product instead of a method. Someone figured out they could make a buck selling notebooks with dots already in them and now it's a whole industry. Feels like the original idea got buried under all the fancy pens and washi tape. I still use a plain composition book and a ballpoint. Works fine.
