Everyone keeps saying to list your GPA on your resume and I found out it's killing people
I help screen resumes at a mid-size insurance office in Columbus and a friend of mine got turned down for 6 jobs in a row because she put her 3.1 GPA at the top of her resume. One hiring manager here pulled me aside and told me he tosses any resume that lists a GPA under 3.5, even for jobs that never asked for one. That number does nothing for you if it's average, and putting it front and center just gives people a reason to say no. Leave it off unless the posting asks or you're fresh out of school with no work history. Has anyone else seen a resume get sunk by something this small?
