I just hit 100 job applications sent and the first call I got was for a job I forgot I even applied to
I've been looking for a new bartending gig for about two months now. I kept a spreadsheet to track everything, and when I hit 100 applications, I felt a mix of pride and total burnout. The very next day, a manager from a hotel bar called me, and I had zero memory of sending my resume there. I had to scramble to find the job posting while we were talking. Has anyone else had a job search get so blurry that an interview feels like a surprise?

Yeah, that spreadsheet creep is no joke, it totally becomes its own weird second job like @the_piper said. I'm curious, when you had to scramble to find the posting, did you just admit to the manager you forgot, or did you try to play it off? I'd be so worried about looking unorganized even though we're all doing this to stay organized in the first place.

That spreadsheet life is real. Mine got so out of hand last year I almost interviewed for a warehouse job thinking it was for a brewery.

Got so out of hand" is the key phrase. I see this everywhere now, where the system we build to manage a simple thing ends up being a second, harder job.
