Pro tip: don't trust your backup drive blindly
Lost 6 months of design portfolio work when my external SSD failed last Tuesday. Drive was clicking and I ignored it - anyone else have a drive go silent with no warning?

The click was the warning. I had a Seagate drive start doing that a few years back and I ignored it for two weeks. It died copying a single 200MB file and took everything with it. Now I follow the 3-2-1 thing and swap out backup drives every two years even if they seem fine.

Nah, a click doesn't always mean death. I've had drives click for months and keep working fine.

Clicked right past that warning too, huh? I once ignored a drive making sounds like a tiny coffee grinder because I figured it was "just saving extra loud." Lost a whole music project and now I name my backup drives after my exes so I remember why I need to keep replacing them.
