PSA: I just found out most job offers are negotiated in the first 24 hours
I was reading a career blog from a recruiter in Austin, and she said over 70% of salary talks happen in the first day after the offer. I always thought you had a week to think it over. So I tried it last week when a company called me, and I asked for more right away. They actually said yes and added a signing bonus. Has anyone else had luck with this quick timing?

That part about the signing bonus is interesting. I mean, maybe the timing works because they're still in the "we want this person" mode before the budget gets looked at again. I had a friend who waited five days to counter, and they came back saying the initial offer was firm, like the moment had passed. It feels less like a rule and more like catching the right vibe before the excitement cools down.

It's like that with a lot of things, right? The best time to ask for something is when people are still riding the high of making a decision. Once the paperwork feeling sets in, everyone just wants to move on and not reopen talks. Your friend's story totally fits that. Miss that early window and you're just another item on a checklist.

Five days? That's wild.
