That one Tuesday I accidentally became the office hero

Last month I spilled coffee on my keyboard and got sent to IT to get a new one. While I was there the network went down and I somehow helped the IT guy figure out the router was unplugged by a cleaning crew. Now people keep asking me to fix their printers and I don't know anything about printers, has anyone else had a random skill turn into an unwanted side gig?

LOL "random skill turn into unwanted side gig" is the most accurate thing I've ever read. I once fixed a jammed stapler in the break room and now people think I'm the office supply whisperer. Last week someone handed me a broken hole puncher like I was a surgeon about to perform a miracle. My actual job title has nothing to do with paper products but here I am.

That office supply whisperer thing cracked me up cause it's so real. Next thing you know someone's gonna bring in a broken calculator from 1995 and expect you to perform CPR on it. Pretty soon you'll have a whole toolbox hidden in your desk drawer and a reputation that follows you around the building like a shadow. People start treating you like the office MacGyver just cause you know how to unjam a stapler without losing a finger.
