The year I stopped listing every skill and started naming projects

I spent 4 years in Chicago filling my resume with bullets like "proficient in Excel" and "team player," but my interviews kept stalling at the same point. Then a hiring manager told me, "nobody believes what you claim, they only believe what you show," so I rewrote it around three projects with actual numbers, like cutting a 6-hour report down to 20 minutes. Has anyone else seen better results from swapping skill lists for proof, or is that just a tech industry thing?

Saw a career coach on a podcast say the same thing, that resumes should read like a portfolio, not a catalog. Numbers do all the heavy lifting because they give the hiring person something to grab onto. That project about the 6-hour report is way stronger than any list of tools you've touched.
