TIL my 'quick' database cleanup took 3 weekends, not 3 hours

I figured migrating old client records would take an afternoon, but the duplicate entries and missing fields made it drag on for 18 days total, so now I always block out triple the time for any data fix, has anyone else underestimated a 'simple' data task that badly?

Ever notice how everything in life takes twice as long as people say it will? The guy who quoted you 30 minutes for a job that takes an hour is the same one who says "quick cleanup" and means all weekend. I just assume any estimate is a wish now, not a plan.
