Went back to my old office building and the whole vibe was different
Drove past my old office last week, the one I worked at for 8 years before I started my own thing. The parking lot was half empty and the sign on the door said "leasing available." It got me thinking about how much the job hunt has changed since I was in my 20s. Back then I printed 50 resumes and handed them out at job fairs around Columbus. Now my nephew tells me he's doing video interviews and getting offers through LinkedIn messages. The skills that mattered then, like showing up early and knowing the right person, feel almost outdated. But I wonder if the old way was really that bad, or just slower and more personal. Does anyone else feel like the advice we got about careers back then just doesn't apply to how people find work now? I'm genuinely curious what you all think, especially if you've switched industries like I did.
