Why does nobody talk about resume bots just trashing your application

I was sending out like 50 apps a week for 3 months and getting zero callbacks. Turns out the company I wanted to work for in Austin uses a bot that scans for specific keywords from the job posting. My buddy who works there told me after I complained. I went back and rewrote my resume to match the exact phrasing from their listings, and I got 2 interviews in the next week. Seriously check if your resume is getting past the software before you blame yourself. Has anyone else found a good site to test how your resume scans?

Nah, I think people just blame bots for bad resumes.

That Jobscan thing actually works though. I ran my resume through it for a sales job and it told me I was missing "cold calling" even though I had "outbound prospecting" which is basically the same thing. Swapped it out and got a call back within a week lol. The bots are definitely filtering for specific words.

Wait "people just blame bots for bad resumes"? That's kind of wild to me because I literally watched it happen. My girlfriend applied to the same company twice with two different resumes - one with their keywords and one without - and the one with the keywords got an interview request in 3 days while the other one sat in their system for 2 months with no response. I actually found a site called Jobscan that compares your resume to the job posting and tells you what keywords you're missing. It's not perfect but it caught that I was using "managed" instead of "oversaw" for a warehouse job and that one swap got me through.
