Why I stopped listing every skill on my resume and just picked 3

After 8 months of applying to 40+ jobs and getting zero callbacks, I cut my resume down to just the three skills each job actually asked for and got 5 interviews in 2 weeks - has anyone else found that less is actually more with recruiters?

A couple months ago I trimmed my resume down from two pages to just the top 3 things each role asked for, and I got a callback within a week from a company I'd applied to before with no luck. I used to list every certification and side project and it just looked like a messy wall of text. Recruiters skim for 6 seconds, so giving them exactly what they want to see makes it easy for them to say yes. Now I keep a master list of everything I've done and just pick 3 bullets per job posting.

My dog's resume has one skill: sitting for treats. Works every time.

Not sure about that... sometimes listing everything shows you've actually done the work.
