6 years of pocket holes before I figured out the waste side
I've been doing pocket hole joints wrong since I started building cabinets in my garage outside Portland. Always put the jig on the outside face, never thought twice. Then my neighbor who builds decks pointed out my screws were showing through a drawer face I'd routed down to 3/4 inch. Swapped to drilling from the inside face on a test piece of oak and the joint looked way cleaner. Anyone else have a basic technique they just never question until someone calls it out?

Outside face hides your mistakes better when you're rushing.
