A trim guy in Nashville looked at my mitered outside corners and said 'you're cutting yourself short, literally' so I built a $12 jig that afternoon
He pointed out my corners kept opening up because I was rushing the cut on my 10 inch slider and not letting the blade stop before lifting the head, so now I clamp a stop block and let it spin down every single time, and I want to know if anyone else has a cheap jig that fixed a bad habit like that.
My uncle ran a cabinet shop in Ohio for 30 years and he always said the blade stopping is half the cut. He kept a little block of scrap clamped down just like that and swore it saved him more rework than any fancy tool.
