Am I the only one who used to hand-cut all my crown miters before switching to a compound miter saw?
I finally bought a DeWalt DWS780 after a brutal 3-day custom molding job in a 1920s bungalow where my hand-cut joints were just not lining up, so what other tools have saved you guys from similar headaches?

My first miter saw was a cheap 10 inch Ryobi, and honestly it made things worse. The fence was never square and the blade wobbled. I had to go back and hand cut half the joints anyway just to fix them. A good saw is a game changer, but a bad one just gives you a false sense of security. I learned the hard way that checking your tool's accuracy matters more than just having the tool.

Cheap tools just teach you how to fix mistakes, huh?

Remember my buddy trying to build a deck with a bargain bin circular saw? He spent more time fixing the crooked cuts than actually building. That saw didn't teach him anything except how much he hated sanding. Sometimes the cheap tool is the whole problem.
