Appreciation post: The day a homeowner's grandkid changed my whole view on a job

I was finishing up a custom built-in bookcase in this old house in Bellingham, feeling pretty beat after a long week. The homeowner's 8-year-old grandson was watching me, and after I was done he just said, 'It looks like the house grew it.' I mean, idk, maybe it's just me but that one comment from a kid made all the sanding and scribing feel worth it. Has a simple observation from someone on site ever completely flipped how you felt about a project?

That's the kind of comment that makes the whole trade worth it.

Saw a report from the Chicago Fed last month. They said over 60% of small businesses now see customer feedback as their main growth driver. Makes total sense. A single good review can change everything for a shop owner.

Worth it" reminds me of this one time a customer came back just to say thanks.
