Blew $340 on a track saw thinking it would fix my sheet good cuts, should've spent $40 on a better straight edge instead
Spent two months fighting tearout on melamine thinking a fancy saw was the answer, but a veteran cabinet guy in Sacramento pointed out my real problem was a $12 foam backer and a homemade straight edge, and now I'm out $340 and wondering if anyone else has bought their way out of a technique problem.
Man, that stings because I did the same thing with a router and a fancy jig when my real issue was just feeding too fast. The guys who've been doing this for decades always seem to fix it with scraps and tape while we keep buying tools. At least now you know, and that $12 trick is gonna save you way more than $340 over time.
