I was dead set against using those little laser levels on jobsites
For years I swore by a good old fashioned 4-foot level and a chalk line. Thought those little red dots were just for homeowners and weekend warriors. Then last month I had to frame out a basement with all sorts of weird corners and angles, and my crew was wasting time rechecking everything. Broke down and bought a basic Huepar laser, and honestly it cut our layout time by almost half on that job. Anybody else stubbornly stick to old methods for way too long before switching?

Took me about three jobs of watching my guys trip over chalk lines before I finally caved and bought one too. Guess I just like making things harder on myself for no good reason.

Buddy of mine @henry_martinez swore by string lines until one snapped and hit him in the face.

So @henry_martinez, do you ever feel like the chalk lines make you LOOK more professional on site even if the actual work is the same? I swear there's something about having the right gear that just changes how people perceive what you're doing. Especially with something as simple as marking a straight line it's wild how much faster it goes once you stop fighting with the old way. Makes me wonder how many other little tools we avoid that would save us ten minutes every single day.
