Just had a close call with a nail gun in my shop last week
The safety was on but it still fired when I bumped it against a stud, sending a nail right past my boot. Has anyone else had a safety fail on a newer model like this?

Scares the hell out of me every time. My old Paslode did that once, just a light tap on a joist and it fired. I don't trust the safeties at all now, I treat every tool like it's loaded. I even point the nose at the ground when I'm walking with it, like a gun. That split second where your brain catches up is the worst feeling.

That gun comparison is spot on lol. Honestly the worst part is how it makes you second guess every little bump or sound on the job after that. You start flinching at your own shadow, and that jumpiness can cause more mistakes than the tool itself. It's a mental game you gotta win back after a scare like that.

Man, that split second feeling you mentioned is the worst! I had a similar scare last year that made me jump about three feet in the air. I'm so paranoid now I check the safety three times and still flinch when I pull the trigger. It's like the tool is just waiting for the perfect moment to make you look like a fool in front of your own project.
