Pro tip: mark your stud locations before you drop the drywall

I missed a stud on a basement ceiling job last Tuesday and spent 45 minutes patching a hole I could have avoided (which, honestly, taught me to double-check my layout with a magnet finder instead of just eyeballing it) - has anyone else had a similar oops that made them change their whole process?

Eyeballing it is faster and experience teaches you where the edges are.

Man, I just read something the other day about how our brains actually get worse at judging distances the more we do it by eye. It's called something like "perceptual bias creep" or whatever. Makes you wonder if we're really learning edges or just getting comfortable with being off by a quarter inch every time.

Yeah, and "experience" also taught me to buy a bigger roll of zip tape.
