PSA: My framing square was lying to me for months

I was cutting rafters for a shed in my backyard and the angles kept coming out wrong, even though I was marking directly off the square. Turns out I had dropped it last winter and the corner was bent just enough to throw everything off by like 1/16th. How often do you guys check your squares for true?

A bent square is the worst kind of lie, lol. I check mine maybe twice a year against a known straight edge. That 1/16th will absolutely ruin a whole project.

Read that tip from @casey_smith and checked mine immediately.

Man, that's a nightmare. I dropped my speed square off a ladder once and it was never the same. Do you have a specific way you check it now, like a factory edge on plywood or something? I should probably do it more than never.
