Rant: Noticed more folks skipping the glue-up step on cabinets
I was at a supplier last week and heard a young guy brag about building a full kitchen set with just pocket screws and no glue. He said it saves time and nobody will notice anyway. Has anyone else seen this shortcut getting popular, or am I just running into the wrong crowd?

Heck no, you're not wrong to be bothered by that. Glue is cheap insurance and pocket screws alone just feel flimsy on a full kitchen set.
@the_angela, hope and prayer might actually hold up better than that kid's cabinets after a few seasons of humidity changes. All it takes is one racked door to prove the point.

Patricia is dead right, glue is just cheap peace of mind and I always add it to every joint no matter what. I've had a set of cabinets start sagging after one damp summer cause I got lazy with the glue on that batch, never made that mistake again. A little extra time with a glue bottle beats having to rebuild a whole cabinet later, your mileage may vary but that's how I look at it.

My own cabinets are held together with hope and a prayer, so I'm in no position to judge anyone's methods.
