Saw a new housing development in Bend using 100% engineered lumber for the framing. Is this the future or are we losing something?

It's a tough one. Engineered stuff is super strong and uses wood more efficiently, which is good. But walking into a house and smelling real pine just hits different, you know? Feels like we're trading a bit of soul for straight lines and perfect specs.

Yeah, that "bit of soul" is just the smell of money leaving your wallet. Solid wood has character, but so does a bank account that isn't empty. Guess I'll take the straight lines and keep my savings.

Real talk though, solid wood just looks better with age.
