Spent 3 days trying to fix a saw fence that just needed a different washer

I was adjusting the fence on my old Delta contractor saw for like 3 days straight, shimming and measuring over and over. Turns out the stock plastic washer was worn down by maybe a 32nd of an inch, and a $1.50 steel washer from Ace fixed the whole thing. Anyone else waste a weekend on something that simple?

Used to think it's always user error, but this changed my mind honestly.

Kind of had the same arc myself. Used to be pretty quick to blame people for not reading instructions or not knowing basic troubleshooting. But then I saw some genuinely awful design choices that no amount of common sense could fix, and it made me realize it's a lot more complicated than that. Some things are just set up to fail and it's not the user's fault at all. Idk, it's humbling to admit you were wrong about something you felt so sure about.

My friend once spent an hour on the phone with a printer that just wouldn't print right.
