TIL you can wreck a $400 table saw blade just by cutting treated lumber once

Was talking to the old guy at the lumberyard and he said the silica in pressure treated wood dulls carbide tips way faster than regular pine. He showed me a blade that was basically shot after one deck build. Anyone else avoid treated cuts with their good blades or am I being paranoid?

Used to grab whatever blade was handy and never thought twice about treated lumber. Then I ruined a nice Freud combo blade halfway through a fence job and it clicked. Now I keep a cheap backup blade specifically for the pressure treated stuff and swap it out before the good ones touch it.

Isn't it funny how most things we ignore the manual for end up teaching us the biggest lessons?
