That one regular who finally said my name after 3 months

I work the line at a breakfast spot in Des Moines, and there's this older guy, comes in every Tuesday at 7am, orders the same two eggs over easy with wheat toast, no butter. For three months I just nodded at him when I called the ticket. Last week he caught me during the lull and said, "Appreciate you, Marcus, you always get the eggs right." My name's not Marcus, but I didn't correct him. It hit different, like he actually saw me back there. Anyone else have a regular who got your name wrong but made your day anyway?

I read somewhere that people remember moments when someone makes them feel noticed, even if the details are off. Getting your name wrong but still getting your effort right is kind of a backwards compliment, like they see the work more than the person. That's gotta be better than being invisible behind the grill.
