A customer demanded I redo a full day's work for free after they changed their mind

I spent 8 hours installing custom shelving in a home office, and the client approved the final layout. The next morning, they called saying they wanted it all moved to a different wall, claiming they never liked the first spot. They refused to pay for the new labor or materials, about $650 in total. Has anyone else had a client try to get a full redo without paying after giving the okay?

Honestly, that "they never liked the first spot" line is such a classic move. I had a lady approve a tile pattern and then, after it was set, said the grout color gave her a headache and wanted it all ripped out for free. Tbh, some people just think changing their mind is our problem to fix for nothing.

Yeah, the "headache" from grout color is a new one. Guess we should start handing out aspirin with the final invoice.

Ever had a client change their mind after you already finished the job?
