A customer swore their package was stolen, but the security footage told a different story

Last Friday at the shipping store, a man came in yelling about a missing delivery. He claimed we left his $800 laptop on his porch and it got stolen within minutes. He demanded a full refund and was ready to call corporate. I was sure this was going to be a huge loss for us. But our policy is to check the doorbell camera footage we require for high-value drops. When we pulled it up, we saw the delivery driver place the box, ring the bell, and leave. About thirty seconds later, the customer's own teenage son opened the door, picked up the box, and took it inside. The customer went completely silent when I showed him. He just mumbled an apology and left. Has anyone else had a customer's story completely fall apart because of video proof?

Honestly the worst part is when they double down. Had a lady insist her rug never showed, we had the photo proof from the driver. She said we photoshopped it. Like lady, we're a small mail center, we don't have a photoshop department. It's crazy how people will look right at the truth and still try to argue. Makes you wonder how often they actually find the "stolen" item later and just never tell you.

What's the over-under on that kid getting grounded? The dad was so ready to go to war with you, but the real enemy was in his own house. Bet that was an awkward car ride home.
