Appreciation post: I saw a customer at a hardware store in Boise calmly explain a return policy to a screaming guy for 15 minutes straight.

Wish I had that kind of patience. I would have lasted about 30 seconds before telling the guy to take his receipt and his bad attitude somewhere else. That employee deserves a medal, or at least a very long coffee break.

Honestly, the trick is to just become a brick wall. Let the rant hit you and don't let it in. Nod, say "I understand," and repeat the policy like a broken record. It drains their anger when they get no reaction. That employee probably just zones out and thinks about lunch. What's the policy even about, a return?
