Call center shift where every single caller had the same wild excuse

I work at a phone support desk in Cleveland and last Tuesday was unreal. Between 9am and 2pm, six different customers called with almost the exact same story about their modem being struck by lightning during a storm we didn't even have here. One lady even said she saw sparks fly from her router, but the weather reports showed clear skies all day. I couldn't tell if they were all reading the same script or if our system glitched and sent out a faulty notice. Has anyone else had a stretch like that where you started doubting your own sanity, and how do you handle it without snapping?
