Finally got a refund after that $200 return fee nightmare
Six months ago I paid $150 for a custom photo album from a small shop in Austin. The binding fell apart after two weeks and they tried to charge me $200 to replace it. After 15 emails and a Better Business Bureau complaint, they finally refunded the whole thing yesterday. Has anyone else had luck going the BBB route over a stubborn shop?

Did you have to sacrifice a goat and do a rain dance to get that refund too? Sounds like they really wanted to make you work for it. Honestly, $200 to replace a $150 album that fell apart is the biggest joke I've heard all week. Good on you for taking it to the BBB though. I had a similar thing with a laptop repair place that tried to keep my money after they broke my screen. Filed a complaint with the BBB and suddenly they were all nice and cooperative. It's like they only listen when you threaten their reputation.

Ha, nah I actually get where the company is coming from on this one @phoenix29. I mean, it sucks that they're charging so much for a replacement, but the album didn't "fall apart" because of a defect - the buyer just wrecked it. $200 is steep but maybe that's what it costs to cover the labor and materials for a custom job. I dunno, I've seen way worse from companies.

Echo what you're saying about the BBB thing, it's crazy how fast companies fold once you take it public. Feels like they bank on people not knowing their options or not having the energy to fight back.
