Had a customer ask me why I always check the breaker twice before starting a job

Honestly, I told him a story about a call last year where I didn't double-check, fried a $200 control board, and had to eat the cost. He just said, 'Sounds like that one mistake taught you more than a hundred easy jobs.' Ngl, it hit different coming from a customer. Anyone else have a small mistake that completely changed how you work?

Yeah, that'll do it. One bad screw-up and you're a changed man.

Wait, you're saying one single screw-up can do that? That seems way too fast. People don't just flip a switch overnight. It takes a bunch of little things adding up, not just one big mistake. I've seen guys make huge errors and just shrug it off like nothing happened. The idea that one thing changes you for good feels like a movie plot, not real life.
