Had to pick between keeping my cool or cursing out a customer at the Verizon store in Akron

Honestly, this guy was yelling at me for 20 minutes over a $35 late fee he swore he never got, and I had to decide whether to just let him vent or actually snap back. I chose to keep it calm and offered to split the fee, but then he demanded the full waiver and called my manager a moron. Tbh, I ended up just staring at the wall until he left, and now I'm wondering if I should've just told him to leave from the start. Has anyone else had a moment where you regret being the nice one?

Being nice to rude people just teaches them they can keep acting like that.
