Just hit 100 complaint calls in a single shift, a new personal record.

It was all because of a system outage that our alerts missed, so we were totally unprepared. Anyone else ever have a day where the queue just never stops?

Been there, it's brutal. I just put my head down and focused on one call at a time. Taking a quick walk after the shift helped too.

Wait, isn't focusing on one call at a time the only way to survive? @nelson.wesley I tried that, but my brain would still get fried from the back-to-back angry customers. The walk after helps, but I found I needed a five-minute quiet break halfway through, just staring at a wall with my headset off. That reset let me handle the next wave without the stress from the last call piling up.

My old manager used to say the wall stare was a sign of a pro. It sounds silly but that quiet reset kept me from burning out on the worst days. Finding those little gaps to go blank is a survival skill.
