TIL my new coffee maker's warranty is void if you use filtered water

The carafe cracked after three weeks, and the rep said their policy excludes damage from 'non-standard water sources.' I had to buy a whole new one. Has anyone else run into a warranty rule that made no sense?

Called the company and asked to speak to a supervisor. They replaced it after I argued that filtered water is actually better for the machine.

Honestly, I would have said that was a scam excuse a year ago. Then my buddy's air humidifier broke down. The warranty was void because he used distilled water, which the manual called an "unauthorized additive." It's like they look for any reason to say no. Now I read the fine print on everything, even the toaster.

My blender warranty almost got voided for using ice cubes.
