Tipping point with a homeowner who wanted a free fix
Had a guy last Tuesday watch me replace his water heater for 3 hours, then ask if I could "just patch the drywall real quick" for free because I was already there. I told him my hourly rate and he got quiet real fast. Anyone else get asked for extras like that after a big job?

Oh you KNOW I've been there. People think because you're already doing one thing you'll just throw in another for free. Had a lady ask me to "quickly" fix her toilet flapper after I finished installing her new garbage disposal. That "quick fix" turned into a 45 minute ordeal with a rusty bolt. They always act surprised when you say no too. Like I'm the rude one for not wanting to work for nothing.
1
