Warning: I used to blame customers for everything until a lady broke down crying in front of me
She was yelling about a $3 fee and I was ready to roll my eyes, but then she told me it was her last $3 until payday and that hit me like a ton of bricks. Anyone else ever have that one customer who totally changed how you see the job?

Has anyone else completely misjudged a situation and felt like a total jerk afterward? That story about the $3 fee really got me because I've been that guy ready to snap over nothing, only to realize I was the one who looked like a fool. I still cringe thinking about the time I got annoyed at a customer for asking dumb questions, then found out they were buying supplies for their sick kid.

My buddy actually had something similar happen. He was about to lose it on some guy who was taking forever at the chip aisle, like blocking everyone and just staring. Turns out the dude had a stutter and was trying to find a specific brand for his mom in the hospital. My friend still talks about how bad he felt lol.

Got one that still haunts me. I was at the grocery store and this old guy was taking forever at the self checkout, fumbling with his card and holding up the whole line. I was standing there huffing and puffing, rolling my eyes like a complete jerk. Turns out he was legally blind and his wife had just passed away, he was buying stuff for her funeral reception. Felt about two inches tall after that. Still think about it every time I'm about to get impatient with someone.
