I dropped $50 on a joke book that got me banned from family dinner

Bought this comedy book from a garage sale last weekend thinking it would help me land better jokes at family events. I tried one about a priest, a rabbi, and a kangaroo walking into a bar. My uncle didn't laugh and my aunt walked out of the room. Turns out the joke was from some old offensive comedy album from the 70s. Cost me 50 bucks and now I'm not invited to next month's potluck. Has anyone else bought something that backfired this badly?

Garage sales are a gamble, man. I bought a "vintage" board game once and it had some seriously questionable rules inside. Maybe test drive a joke on a friend first next time before unleashing it on the whole family. That potluck invite will come back around, just give it a few months.

What kind of questionable rules are we talking about though? Like bad game design or something that made you go "yikes"?
