Lost $40 on a 'vintage' portable BBQ I found at a flea market in Phoenix
Saw this rusty 1970s hibachi that looked cool in pictures, but the grates were basically sawdust and the legs collapsed on the third light. Guy swore it was 'restorable,' which I guess means spending more on new parts than a real grill costs. Paid $40 cash and now it's a planter that leaks ash everywhere. Anyone else get burned by nostalgia gear that was better left in someone's garage?

Did you check if the legs were held on by just rust and hope? I made that mistake with an old camp stove, turned out the fuel line was basically a fossil. At least yours can hold a sad little cactus if you line it with foil. That $40 was tuition for learning to trust nothing from a Phoenix garage sale.
