My '10 minute' bird feeder fix turned into a 3 week nightmare

Last month I saw the finch feeder hanging crooked and figured a quick wire twist would do it. Three hours later I had taken apart the whole pole, found rusted hinges, and ordered new parts from two different hardware stores in Tacoma. The replacement bracket arrived wrong size, then the second one snapped when I tightened it. I finally fixed it last Tuesday, but the birds haven't come back to that corner of the yard yet. My wife keeps saying it looks fine but I know the angle is still off by a few degrees. Has anyone else spent way too long on a project that should have taken minutes, and did the original problem even matter in the end?
