My nephew told me a joke at Thanksgiving that bombed with the whole family
My nephew Mark, who is 16, tried out a knock-knock joke about the spelling of 'banana' that he saw online. He thought it was hilarious, but after the second repetition my sister-in-law asked him to stop and there was this heavy silence around the table in Cleveland. It really taught me that timing and audience matter more than the joke itself. Has anyone else had a joke from a young relative fall totally flat at a holiday gathering?

3 times he tried it? That's rough, but honestly I gotta ask did anyone else at the table try to bail him out with a laugh or just let it die completely? The heavy silence part makes me wonder if his delivery was off or the joke was just that bad.

three times he tried it" omg i would have crawled under the table and died. can you imagine the second time and then going for a third? that's brutal.
