Used to think any groan was a win, but last week in Columbus I hit a cashier with a division joke and she just stared until the next customer moved up. That silence taught me timing and crowd reading matter way more than the punchline. Anyone else have a joke that backfired so hard you quit telling them for a month?

The 'silence taught me timing' part feels a little dramatic. She probably just didn't hear the joke or had a long shift, not some deep life lesson. Maybe you're overthinking a bad customer service moment.
