Tried telling a 'why did the chicken cross the road' joke at my sister's wedding toast

Man, I thought I was being funny to break the ice during my speech last Saturday. I started with 'Why did the chicken cross the road?' thinking everyone would laugh at the classic. But the punchline got zero reaction, and my brother-in-law's mom looked at me like I insulted her cooking. The whole table went quiet for a solid 10 seconds, and I had to cough to fill the silence. My wife texted me from her seat saying 'stop talking' so I just wrapped it up fast. Now my sister won't return my calls, and I'm pretty sure I ruined the reception vibe. Anyone else bomb a joke at a wedding and have the photographer catch the awkward face?

Yeah give it a week and text her something unrelated, like asking if she needs help with leftovers or whatever. People forget fast once they're back to normal life. The toast thing sucks but nobody's gonna remember it at the next family cookout.
