Am I the only one who found a stripped bolt on a 6.7 Powerstroke oil pan last week?

I was under a truck in our Springfield shop and got it out by welding a nut onto the bolt head. What's your go-to method for this when you're in a tight spot?

@the_drew's buddy made it sound like a big deal... but how often does a bolt really get that stuck?

Actually, heating it up and letting it cool is for expansion and contraction, not just heat. That's the whole trick.

Man, that welding trick is solid. My buddy had the exact same thing happen on his farm truck, a real rust belt special. He spent an hour trying easy-outs before he just heated the whole area with a torch and let it cool. The expansion and contraction broke the corrosion loose enough to get a bite with some vice grips. Said it felt like cheating.

Ever try a left-hand drill bit first?
