Found a trick for freeing stuck injectors on a 7.3 Powerstroke

Instead of soaking them in penetrating oil for days I grabbed my impact gun and a cheap 1/4 inch copper line. I gently tapped the injector body while running the impact in reverse and it broke free in under 5 minutes. Has anyone else tried vibration instead of just solvents?

Wait, you hit it with a copper line while the impact was running? That sounds sketchy as hell. I thought you were just gonna say you used the vibration from the gun on the copper line itself. When you say "tapped the injector body" do you mean you were actively hitting it while the impact was hammering? That's wild.

Yeah that's exactly what I did. Impact was hammering away and I gave the injector body a couple light taps with a piece of 3/8 soft copper. Just enough to break the corrosion loose without damaging anything. Craziest part is it worked on the first try. Been doing this for years and it still feels wrong every time but the results speak for themselves.

Tried something pretty close on my old Ford 6.0 a few months back. Soaked it in PB Blaster for two days with no luck, got frustrated and grabbed a brass punch and my air hammer. Set it on low and just let the vibration sit on the injector nut for maybe a minute, gave it a couple taps, and it spun right off. Felt dirty doing it but the corrosion was so bad I was about to pull the whole head anyway. That little bit of shock and shake is way more useful than waiting on chemicals to do all the work.
