Glad I picked the rebuild kit over a new pump
My 6.7 Powerstroke started losing prime last week, and I was looking at a $480 replacement pump online. I decided to try the $90 rebuild kit from the local diesel shop instead, just to see if I could save some money. Took me about 4 hours on a Saturday, and I had to be real careful with the O-rings and gaskets. But it fired right up and has been holding prime fine for 5 days now. Has anyone else had good luck with rebuilding their own pumps or is it usually a waste of time?

5 days ain't a real test, give it a few thousand miles first.

5 days is more than most people get on a test drive actually.

Read a mechanic say most issues only show up after 100 miles or so.
